"WHY DO I WANT TO GO?"

I want to go to college because I want to make my parents proud. They have given up so much for me to be in school that by going to college I will pay them off later with the career I get. When you apply to college you get help by the government either you get money financially or you get loans. i still haven't decide which college i want to go but, one thing i know its that I'm going to one.

STUDENT SUCCESS STATEMENT

"ITS NOT ABOUT HOW TO ACHIEVE YOUR DREAMS. ITS ABOUT HOW TO LEAD YOUR LIFE THE RIGHT WAY, THE KARMA (DESTINY, FORTUNE, GOOD LUCK) WILL TAKE CARE OF ITSELF. THE DREAMS WILL COME TO YOU."
DR. RANDY PAUSCH

REFLECTION:

THIS QUOTE MEANS THAT EVERYTHING IN LIFE WILL COM TOGETHER WHEN YOU ARE STABLE IN THE GOOD PATH. YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO WORRY AND WILL BE AT PEACE. BASICALLY THAT ALL THE HARD WORK WILL PAY OF AND TO NOT BE A LAZY PERSON.

STUDENT LED CONFERENCE

REFLECTION

STUDENT LED CONFERENCE WENT WELL. I HAD FUN TELLING MY GUARDIAN WHAT I'VE BEEN DOING IN SCHOOL. TELLING THEM ABOUT MY STRONG ABILITIES AND MY LOW ONES. I SHOWED MY WORK THAT I USUALLY HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO GET A GOOD GRADE. I AM PASSING ALL MY CLASSES BUT, I HAVE TO GET A BETTER GRADE IN PRE-CAL. THIS FELT MORE FASTER THAN THE USUAL ONES DO.

GOAL SETTING WORKSHEET

  1. SELECT A GOAL OVER WHICH YOU HAVE CONTROL.
  2. ASK IF THE GOAL IS TOO BIG OR TOO EASY.
  3. AVOID USING VAGUE WORDS, SUCH AS: SOME, MORE, OFTEN, BETTER USE MEASURABLE TERMS.
  4. BE SURE THE GOAL IS YOURS, AND NOT SOMEONE ELSE'S.
FIRST QUARTER GOAL:
  1. PASS ALL MY CLASSES
  2. BE ON TIME.
  3. TURN IN ALL MY WORK.

"WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES."
BY ELVIS PRESLEY

If I could be you, if you could be me for just one hour
If we could find a way to get inside each other's mind, mh
If you could see you through my eyes instead of your ego
I believe you'd be surprised to see that you've been blind, mh

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Hey, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

Now your whole world you see around you is just a reflection
And the law of common says you're gonna reap just what you sow
So unless you've lived a life of total perfection
You'd better be careful of every stone that you should throw - yeh-heh

And yet we spend the day throwin' stones at one another
'Cause I don't think or wear my hair the same way you do, mh
Well, I may be common people but I'm your brother
And when you strike out you're tryin' to hurt me it's hurtin' you
Lord, have mercy

Walk a mile in my shoes, walk a mile in my shoes
Babe, before you abuse, criticize and accuse
Walk a mile in my shoes

And there are people on reservations and out in the ghettos
And brother, there, but for the grace of God, go you and I, yeh-heh
And if I only had wings of a little angel, well
Don't you know, I'd fly to the top of a mountain and then I'd cry, cry, cry

Reflection: IN THE OTHER QUOTE IT MEANT TO NEVER JUDGE SOMEONE BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH. IN THIS SONG IT MEANS THAT SOMEONE WILL KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH WHEN SOMEONE IS SEEING THINGS IN YOUR POSITION.
"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view...until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
-To kill a Mockingbird

THE PQRST STUDY METHOD

THE PQRST METHOD. THIS FIVE STEP PROCESS HELPS YOU SYNTHESIZE READING MATERIALS AND PREPARE FOR A TEST. THIS IS A GOOD TO DO WITH STUDY PARTNER OR GROUP, BUT YOU COULD DO IT ON YOUR OWN. BEGIN THIS PROCESS SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THE EXAM.
  1. PREVIEW: LOOK OVER THE COURSE SYLLABUS, YOUR WRITTEN NOTES, AND THE HEADINGS AND SUBHEADINGS OF THE ASSIGNED READING. THIS PROVIDES AN OVERVIEW OF THE CONTENT AND CONCEPT YOU WILL BE STUDYING.
  2. QUESTION: DEVELOP A LIST OF QUESTIONS, INCLUDING THOSE
  • CREATED FROM THE HEADINGS AND SUBHEADINGS IN THE READING
  • FROM YOUR WRITTEN NOTES
  • DISCUSSED IN CLASS
  • PROVIDED AT THE ENDS OF CHAPTERS
  • GIVEN ON THE STUDY GUIDE (IF ONE IS PROVIDED)
  • THAT YOU HAVE ABOUT THE TOPIC
*FOR EXAMPLE, IF A MAJOR HEADING OR SUBHEADING IS "PHASE OF THE MOON" THEN ASKED YOURSELF/ WHAT ARE THE PHASES OF THE MOON
   3. READ: READ THE ASSIGNED READING AND YOUR WRITTEN NOTES AND LOOK FOR ANSWERS TO YOUR STUDY QUESTIONS. HEADINGS AND SUBHEADINGS SHOULD HELP GUIDE YOUR SEARCH. KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR OTHER INFORMATION TO ADD TO YOUR LIST OF QUESTIONS. REFLECT ON WHAT YOU READ, AND CONNECT NEW MATERIAL TO WHAT YOU ALREADY KNOW.
   4. STATE: IN YOUR OWN WORDS, SAY ALOUD AND/OR WRITE DOWN THE ANSWERS TO STUDY QUESTIONS, USE MNEMONIC DEVICES, CONCEPT DIAGRAMS, ANALOGIES, AND/OR OTHER STUDY STRATEGIES IS PROVIDED ON HANDOUT 3.10.3, WHICH YOU WILL BE RECEIVING SHORTLY.
   5. TEST: ANSWER YOUR STUDY QUESTIONS WITHOUT LOOKING AT YOUR NOTES OR READING, AND THEN CHECK TO SEE IF YOUR ANSWERS WERE CORRECT AND COMPLETE, YOUR BRAIN NEEDS TO ABSORB AND APPLY NEW INFORMATION, SO TEST AND RE-TEST OVER SEVERAL STUDY SESSIONS.
